自愿性标准覆盖方方面面:从水处理到核电站燃料贮存

为了向公众宣传标准在日常生活中的重要作用,美国国家标准协会(ANSI)发布了在全球和本国标准领域开展的各种标准活动的快报,其中许多活动是由ANSI会员及ANSI认可的标准制定组织开展的。以下是两项最新的标准:

一、臭氧处理水系统

由于臭氧能够消除异味,解决无机、有机和真菌、细菌等微生物问题,人们使用臭氧系统处理水已经有多年。美国给水工程协会(AWWA)新发布的美国国家标准(ANS)规定了臭氧系统及其处理饮用水、废水、再生水和雨水时的设备所要达到的最低标准。AWWA F120-2018臭氧处理水系统这项标准为水处理过程中所用臭氧系统设备的设计、采购、安装和试运行提供了参照标准。该文件适用于使用放电电介质的高浓度臭氧发生设备和由液氧(LOX)存储系统蒸发的氧气供给的模块式臭氧发生器。该标准涉及对象包括具有相关辅助设备的臭氧发生器、细泡扩散和侧流臭氧溶解系统,以及热催化和热系统的臭氧破坏系统。

Voluntary Standards Cover the Spectrum: From Water Treatment to Fuel Storage for Nuclear Power Plants

In an effort to communicate the vital role that standards play in daily life, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) publishes snapshots of the diverse standards initiatives undertaken in the global and national standards arena, many of which are performed by ANSI members and ANSI-accredited standards developers. Two of the latest selections follow:

Ozone Systems to Treat Water
Ozone systems have been used to treat water for many years because of their ability to eliminate taste and odor problems in addition to other inorganic, organic, and microbiological problems like bacteria and viruses. A new American National Standard (ANS) published by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) describes the minimum requirements for ozone systems and equipment used to treat potable water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and storm water. AWWA F120-2018, Ozone Systems for Water, provides a reference for the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of ozone systems equipment used in water treatment. The document applies to high concentration ozone generation equipment using discharge dielectrics and modular-type ozone generators fed from oxygen gas vaporized from a liquid oxygen (LOX) storage system. Included in the standard are ozone generators with associated ancillary equipment, fine bubble diffusion and side-stream ozone dissolution systems, and ozone destruct systems including both thermal-catalytic and thermal systems.

AWWA, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, is the largest professional society for the water supply industry. The organization focuses on total water solutions that assure the effective management of water, offering education to water professionals, advocacy efforts for safe and sustainable water, and volunteer opportunities. Its members include representation from the public and wastewater systems community, environmental advocates, scientists, academicians, and others with a genuine interest in water.

Fuel Storage at Light Water Nuclear Power Plants
The safe and successful operation of nuclear power plants relies on design requirements that assure protection of plant personnel and the public while also providing efficient and economical functionality. ANSI/ANS-57.3-2018,Design Requirements for New Fuel Storage Facilities at Light Water Reactor Plants, addresses these matters in relation to the required functions of dry storage facilities for new fuel at light water reactor nuclear power plants. The standard provides design requirements for the facility that will preclude criticality; assure protection of new fuel assemblies, control components, plant personnel, and the public; and maintain low radiation exposures. Fuel storage facilities covered by the document are used for receiving, inspecting, and storing fuel containing new and recycled uranium and mixed oxides.

This standard was developed by the American Nuclear Society (ANS), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer. ANS is a membership organization of approximately 11,000 engineers, scientists, administrators, and educators that advocates for the advancing and promoting of nuclear science and technology. The organization provides opportunities for professional development, as well as a forum where the nuclear community can share information and advancements in technology.
